THE APARTMENT NETWORK
The Apartment Network supports International Women’s Day 2022 by celebrating the careers of four fabulous women – all part of the Tan Team.
“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality.”
International Women’s Day
We are a naturally diverse group of individuals, with a multicultural team including employees from Asia, the Americas and Europe. Our team speaks several languages fluently and enjoys a diverse ethnicity. 66% of our workforce is female. We employ passionate individuals with a drive to deliver a high quality service. We encourage the confidence to speak openly and freely, to contribute ideas and creativity, to be part of TAN’s growth and evolution.
Here are the stories of four women, enjoying fulfilling careers in the travel sector, as part of the Tan Team.
When one door closes and another opens
A change of job during the height of the pandemic was always going to be a challenge. However, 18 months later and I have not looked back! I have been able to use my nine years of knowledge and skills in hospitality and serviced apartments to bring 20,000 new serviced apartments to our global network.
As TAN’s Supply Chain Manager, I focus on the relationships we have with our extensive supply chain, I work closely with ISAAP to promote high standards and quality, and I am committed to providing our customers with best-in-class accommodation solutions.
The perfect sector for a travel enthusiast like me!
I have worked in the travel sector for over 10 years; I have been a travel enthusiast for much longer! Despite recent, global events, the travel sector has remained resilient. It’s an amazing experience being part of a community of people that have supported the sector over the last 2 years.
The Serviced Apartment sector is an exciting place to be right now. It is an alternative accommodation choice that is getting a lot of attention, providing safe, self-contained places to stay. It is my job to share the benefits of apartment accommodation, to form relationships with new clients, and to bring new customers into the TAN family! I love working with people and working in Sales and in Travel ticks all my boxes!
The work-life balance I need
I love working, that part is easy. The challenge for any parent with a young family can be to find a part-time role that delivers responsibility, financial reward, and flexibility.
I am delighted to share that as the Head of Marketing for The Apartment Network, I can tick all these boxes! A role in which I am very much part of a great team, supported, valued, and able to deliver on a part-time basis.
As the world changes and evolves, I look forward to hybrid working, to a work-life balance that allows parents to succeed in both work and personal lives, and to women being celebrated for what they contribute, be that full-time or part-time.
The opportunity to make a real difference
With many years in the travel sector, I have seen and experienced a lot. From market leaders to start-ups, from agents and tour operators. What I love about start-ups is the opportunity to really make a difference – to use the knowledge gathered over the years, to push a new business to great things.
Like Emma, I too am passionate about travel. I have visited over 100 countries – I love the changes in scenery, the food, meeting people, experiencing different cultures. To work in a sector that allows us to share a passion with others; it’s a privilege. I have been lucky to work with some great women and I encourage all women around the world to go THEIR way.
Together we will navigate these challenging moments in time – a community of people with passion, enthusiasm, and integrity.
